It’s never too early to start your conditioning, the earlier the better I say so you can be ahead of the curve and continuously building on your strength and agility.

This Winter Conditioning Program is designed specifically for winter enthusiasts — no matter if you are a snowshoer, novice rider or seasoned skier. With a combination of strength training, cardiovascular conditioning, functional mobility, stability work, and injury prevention exercises, everyone who completes this training will become more capable to take on this winter and have a lot of fun along the way.

This program will help you improve your confidence during your days spent in the mountains.

Strength training is an integral part of winter conditioning, but it’s also important to address ski/snowboard-specific movements and situations. In order to get the most out of your winter training, we will focus on specific activities and exercises that translate to performance, not on simply piling on the weights and spending a ton of time in the gym. These workouts will mostly be bodyweight focused so no need to go out and purchase weights or bands if you don’t want to … BUT I think they would be a great addition if you have them.

The plan is to not only strengthen lower-body muscles (quads, hamstrings, glutes) that you use most when skiing and snowboarding but also aims to improve your mobility, balance, and core strength to help you control your whole body and support areas, such as your knees, that are more prone to injuries.

This is about functional training - strengthening your body so that you will feel strong, confident and capable out on the mountain. When you’re feeling your strongest most confident self the joy of being in the mountain will take over.

 

THE 4 COMPONENTS OF YOUR TRAINING PROGRAM:

  • STRENGTH - This portion will focus on your core and lower body in both static and dynamic movements. Boost muscle power. Strengthen the areas that get worked the most: your core, quads, glutes, hamstrings and hips. Each week will get progressively more challenging to build muscle and challenge your functional capacity.

  • ENDURANCE - Condition your body so you can easily ski run after run without packing it in before you’re ready. There will be a mix of dynamic body-weight plyometric circuits and cardio work to challenge your endurance and elevate your heart rate pushing your body through increasingly longer intervals to prepare you for those long top to bottom runs.

  • MOBILITY - We’ll be focusing on balance, mobility, and stability. Work your core and the muscles around your hips, which in turn helps provide stability to injury-prone areas such as the knees.

  • RECOVERY & VISUALIZATION - Focusing on rest days, stretching, flexibility, and getting you in the right frame of mind to take your winter activities to the next level.

IMPORTANT NOTE → These workouts are stackable so if you can’t commit to every day you can mix and match. Do your cardio with a leg workout, add the core workout to the full body. This program is meant to work with your schedule. Feel free to do each workout more than once per week, which is also highly suggested
